This is Sue’s fifth year on the Board, and is the Vice-President. She would like to see the district reduce the drop out rate. She would also like to see more children graduating and going on to college. She is actively involved in all the events at the Tatitlek School. She is also the coordinator of Cultural Heritage Week in Tatitlek for the fifth year. She thinks Chugach School District is exciting because she sees the kids grow with the opportunities that the school provides. She is proud that our Standards based systems allow the kids to work at their own pace. She is also very involved in the community, especially if it involves the children Her heart is truly with the children, and she feels that being part of the Board will give her an opportunity to help achieve all the goals and dreams of the kids. Vice President - Charlene Arneson - Word format My husband, my three sons and I arrived in Alaska, August 1964. Our first home was in Whittier Alaska. We moved our family to the Matanuska Valley 1965. In 1988, we moved back to Whittier. We are living on our vessel the Seabada. I was appointed to the Chugach school board in 2001. My goal is to help promote our shared vision of all stakeholders to help student achieve success. I am dedicated to have an education for every child, making sure students achieves their full potential, and a sustainable life's succeed. Terry Bender Illene Totemoff - Word format Illene is from Tatitlek, Alaska. She has lived there since she was 7 years old! She has been a School Board Member since 1991. That is over 13 years!!! She thinks that the District is doing great, and wants to keep up the good work. She is also very proud of our very good teachers, keep up the good work! She is excited to see kids get everything that they need to help with their education. Thelma Vlasoff - Word format Thelma is from Tatitlek, and has lived there all of her life! She has been on the School Board Member for one and a half years. She would like to see the District get more help for Special Education Students and more on-going learning for them. She is very excited about how the District works together in the best interests of the kids, and is proud that the kids are put first! She is also a community Health Aid in Tatitlek.
