Sharing The Model
Chugach is committed to
sharing their experience, resources, ideas and
successes/challenges with other districts throughout Alaska
and the United States. Thanks to their commitment, and
partnership with the Alaska Staff Development Network, a
Coalition of districts are working together to implement a
standards-based model.
Coalition districts have
demonstrated a commitment to change through implementation
of the Alaska Quality Schools Model. The model is aligned
closely with the Alaska Quality Schools Initiative, the
state's standards-based, systemic reform effort. The
Alaska
Quality Schools Model
has seven elements:
1) Shared
Vision
2) Leadership
3) Standards
4) Effective
Instruction
5) Multiple
Assessments
6) Meaningful
Reporting
7) Continuous Improvement
The Coalition includes
Bering Strait, Chugach School District, Cook Inlet Tribal
Council, Craig School District, Denali Borough Schools,
Highland Tech High, Iditarod Area School District, Kake City
Schools, Kuspuk School District, Lake & Peninsula
Borough School District, Lower Kuskokwim School District,
Lower Yukon School District, Mat-Su Alternative Schools,
Nome School District, Northwest Arctic School District,
Saint Mary's School District, and Southeast Island School
District. Coalition membership is available to all Alaskan
school districts who make a firm commitment to implement all
seven components of the Alaska Quality Schools Model in all
schools for all students K-12.
